Just a few of our shawl pin options |
It's always a good idea to have several different types of stitch markers at the ready - at TNNA Columbus, we debuted mio rings, split rings, and locking stitch markers, all of which will come in handy when you need to mark pattern repeats, increases and decreases, or even mistakes to fix later. Split ring and locking stitch markers can also come in handy when you're assembling a finished project (designer Stacey Trock likes to use locking stitch markers when attaching amigurumi features, for example!). When you're using several stitch markers in a project, it's sometimes nice to have a unique marker to designate the beginning of the round or center of a row; our brand-new Zooni stitch markers do the job nicely! They are made from colorful beads and slip easily onto your needles as you knit.
Many types of stitch markers to choose from |
Pattern holders are another indispensable accessory, especially when following a complicated charted design. Our Magma Pattern Holder stands upright when folded open; extremely strong magnets ensure you won't lose your place in the pattern. We've also included pockets to hold other pattern notes, pens and stitch markers - just fold it up and go, taking all of your essentials with you!
We'd like to give one lucky reader a chance to win a pattern holder; simply leave a comment on this blog post sharing your favorite project to make and why our pattern holder would help you do it! Be sure to also leave some way for us to contact you if you're the winner (e-mail address or Ravelry ID are ideal).
One comment will be randomly selected on Friday, July 27th as the prize winner. Good luck!
The Magma Pattern Holder comes in two size options! |
I love making shawls, especially ones with charted patterns. A pattern holder would be so useful for following the charts!

I am new to making shawls and scared of the charts, so I still write everything out. This would help me with working charts. I could keep track of where I am. Makes it look a little less scary! I need this
ReplyDeleteOMG - this would come in so handy. I've been working on a chart for my shawl and I have to use those plastic page protectors and a pen that washes off with water to mark rows off (makes the chart reusable). This would show me clearly what row I'm working on and prevent me from having to frog because I followed the wrong row!

My friend Hunter Hammersen just came out with the most amazing book, The Knitters Curiousty Cabinet, and following the charts in there would be so much easier with the pattern holder. I love knitting her socks so much, and I learn so much with each project of hers I do.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently working on a double-knit blanket from a chart. 199 pairs of stitches and over 400 rows, I could really use the pattern holder to keep track of where I am!!!

My fav thing to knit lately is fingerless mitts. the pattern holder would be great to have in my lap instead of trying to prop up papers on my knees. thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy fav project is socks & I use Knitters Pride dpns. The pattern holder would be great for charted patterns!!
ReplyDeleteCrochetKnitLady
I would love to have this to knit my next shawl, Bigger on the Inside. It would help with my first chart experience! strawberrilori

I love doing Estonian knit shawls and keeping up with the pattern if crucial. A pattern holder would be a great help!

I tend to knit a lot of patterns with lace and a lot of patterns with cables. The large Magma would be perfect for a pair of socks I'm making (Stalagmite by Cookie A, currently hibernating) where I not only have a chart to keep track of, but need to constantly refer to a key of 16 different cable stitches.

I'm really starting to knit lace shawls and the pattern holder would be indispensable for keeping my place and being able to prop it up on the table. Thanks
ReplyDeleteStranded colorwork socks are so much fun. The pattern holder would be great for keeping my place in the pattern. Rav amchart
ReplyDeleteI love making crocheted doilies and working with lace shawls or socks in knitting. All of them require careful tracking of your current position in the pattern. I'm currently using post-it notes. This would be so much better!
ReplyDeleteThis would be great to have. I could print out all my patterns and take them with. Now I have them on my desktop computer.I open them in photoshop and mark where I'm at. When I put the work down I highlight the last row and save my pattern. Not easy to work or finish anything when others in the house hi-jack your computer.

I love to knit shawls, I cast on the WestKnits Mystery Shawl KAL today. I am also knitting the Wendy Johnson Summer Solstice Mystery Lace Shawl. I just finished the Wingspan yesterday. I could use the pattern to hold the shawl patterns that I love to knit.
ReplyDeleteI love to knit shawls, Mobius scarves and double knitting. A pattern holder will help me keep track of where I should be on any of these!!!

I have just started making my first shawl and loving it but following the pattern is still clumsy for me. This prize would make it so much easier! Thanks for the giveaway.

I'm just home from work and am going stash diving to begin WestKnits KAL. Have been ooooing and ahhhhing over spoiler pics on Ravelry. I sure could use this chart keeper to help me along with this wonderful pattern!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite patterns have lace. I always go for lace patterns...sweaters, baby items, hats, socks, shawls, gloves...I am sure you get the idea. fradycat on Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Mesha and I have an addiction to shawls..
ReplyDeleteI like to use my locking stitch markers as pattern holders. I also like to use them to mark rows for large but simple projects.

I drive for a living. When I put my pattern in my knitting bag, no matter how careful I am to try and keep it wrinkle free, it doesn't work.lol. I'm also always losing my spot so it takes me quite sometime to finish a project. My favorite project is baby clothes.

Right now I use sticky notes and highlightes, this would be way more organized. I like how it has pockets to hold stitch markers and other patterns
ReplyDeleteLace and cable charts are both so much easier with something to keep your place, and a ruler under the correct line (which is what I use now) just moves and loses my place all the time!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to put this is

I love knitting shawls and the pattern holder would be a superb aid for me to keep my place.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great giveaway.
Oh, please, PLEASE magic number generator, please pick me!!! I have done so many charted patterns and need a new pattern holder because my old one doesn't hold the patterns well at all!
ReplyDeleteHighlighting and setting paper, even sticky paper, just isn't working for me. The magnetic board with magnetic tape is the ideal way to go!
ReplyDeleteI need a chart marker, and this is perfect for taking in the car!
ReplyDeletekadhd127 on Rav
I love knitting both lace and stranded color work - both involve lots of charts!
ReplyDeleteI want to make my boyfriend a TARDIS blanket and this would be the perfect thing for the pattern. (The pattern takes up about about 10 or 11 pages lol). This would be the absolute perfect thing for keepin the pattern.
ReplyDeleteMy Ravelry ID is cphillips361
shawls, washclothes, ornaments (use to decorate my classroom and then give to my students). this would help big time with my car project. I always keep something in my car to work on and sometimes don't always write down exactly where I am in a pattern thus lose time figuring out where I am.

I love to knit lace, both shawls and scarves. The pattern holder would be such a good aid to track my place in a chart or keeping the line marked on a written pattern.
ReplyDeleteRoamingKnitter on ravelry
I used to shy away from charts, but then I got really addicted to knitting shawls and not all of them come with written instructions. Now I can manage both, and often actually prefer charts. I'd love to win a pattern holder as it would help me move through complicated shawl charts more easily. Thank you for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteA pattern holder would mean no more crumpled and marked up patterns and more importantly I would know where I left off when the phone rang, kid came home, cows got out etc.
ReplyDeleteOld eyes, need I say more?
ReplyDeleteIrkalla on Ravelry
I've been getting a lot more into lace, so a pattern holder would be great!
ReplyDeleteLace...enough said? :)
ReplyDeleteI love knitting baby projects and a pattern holder would help me keep track of where I am. I frequently forget where I am or loose my place when I have to put down my patterns. The pattern holder would help my memory remember where I was so that I might actually finish a project before the latest arrival!
ReplyDeleteI mostly knit lacy shawls and long, wide scarves. My motto is that, "If I'm sitting, I'm knitting."
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome accessory! right now I use a magnetic board with a separate easel that I got for cross stitch. It's not nearly as portable as this. I knit both lace and cables, both from charts. This pattern holder would make any of those projects much easier to follow!
ReplyDeleteI am very nervous about using charts, so far I've always chosen the written instructions. I would love to learn to read charts so I can make a shawl and this would certainly help.
ReplyDeleteCazalet on Ravelry
I have been wanting one of these for a loooong time. Post-it notes keep falling off.
ReplyDeleteI love to make the DNA Scarf by June Oshiro. With so many cables to work the pattern must be beside me when I work on it, and the pattern holder would be such a help. I would love to have one of these!
ReplyDeletegreyowl (ravelry id)
Shawls are my most favorite...although socks come in a close tie. Need one of these to keep track of my pattern!!!

My favorite thing to knit are CABLES. Complex cables at that. A pattern holder like this would make it so much easier to keep track of where I am in the charts. I love that it would allow me to save my place much more easily as it all folds up to put away (no shifted magnets). I hope I win one!!!
ReplyDeleteI have this dragon lace project. It isn't hard, but the chart is in a small print and the repeat is over 30 rows. This would help me finish the scarf, finally!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing to knit is socks, which are a great on-the-go project. This pattern holder would make it easier to knit more complicated patterns because it would be easier to see charts.

I knit my first lace shawl recently - and loved making it! The only drawback was that I had to carry the paper pattern all over the place, and it was so beat up by the end, even in a plastic sheet protector! This pattern holder looks like it'll be just the thing for my next shawl or colorwork pattern!
ReplyDeletemrscollinhobbs on Ravelry
I seem to make almost nothing but shawls. They are so versatile and they are always handy. I can also color outside of the lines with shawl patterns. I don't know why I haven't used a chart holder before, but this would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteThese days my favorite is lace, so a good chart keeper would be wonderful! My Ravelry ID is Fizbin.
ReplyDeleteI lose my place all the time in lace knitting. The post-it sticker are great until it falls off , and then I'm stuck!
ReplyDeleteI am currently knitting myself a lovely sweater out of a cotton/silk yarn and constantly am chasing the pattern when a draft from the ceiling fan takes it away from me. A pattern keeper would keep things from wandering off!
ReplyDeleteI love to knit or crochet a lot of colour work or textured stitch projects, and know that this sleek accessory would make everything so much easier. This would especially be great to have when knitting outside to keep my pattern from flying away and when I'm done for the day, I can close it and know it will stay nice and tidy in my knitting bag.

I'm a new knitter and just getting started with all my must haves!!! I love your needles and decided to buy the set at the very beginning. I did not want to mess around with having missed matched needles. A pattern keeper would be a great addition for me.
ReplyDeleteI have started to learn to knit from charts and this would greatly improve my ability

I could spend more time knitting with a pattern holder. Right now, I need to pick up the pattern to check the directions, finding my place and re-reading the directions. Having my pattern where it can be easily seen would be great.
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to order this!
ReplyDeleteI love lace shawls, and sometimes it gets cool enough in Arizona to actually wear them.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love your products! I can't wait to have the whole collection.
