Summer Shawls + Giveaway!

In the Northern hemisphere, summer is heating up. What's a knitter or crocheter to do?! There are lots of small projects that are ideal for the dog days of summer, but our trip to the TNNA Trade Show last month has filled us with plenty of inspiration for summer shawls. They're great for keeping warm on cool summer nights (or in air conditioning, as the case may be!), and they're also a wonderful way to accessorize!

Veera Valimaki's Color Affection is still the #1 shawl we see when out and about, but she has many other creative patterns that will delight knitters of all persuasions!

Another popular shawl pattern is Martina Behm's Hitchiker, which is part of an ebook contain four unique shawl patterns, all of which are great destash projects!

We also spotted plenty of Stephen West shawls at TNNA: from Daybreak to Rockefeller, Stephen has a shawl design that is sure to suit your taste and skill level!

When it comes to crochet shawls, Aoibhe Ni continues to stun with her crocheted creations using the Tunisian crochet technique! Many of her patterns are available for free on Ravelry, too!

    I'm working on a rectangular shawl that's a simple feather-and-fan pattern in variegated blue. I've been working on it forever; it's my fallback when I get tired of knitting everything else.

    Next up in my shawl queue would be Karen Gilbank's Shifting Sands, although I feel like it's a really ambitious project for me.

    I am using my Knitter's Pride size 6 needles to knit a modification of two shawls. Cladonia and Sothia are being combined. I call it Cladothia. LOL!

    what a lovely giveaway this month! i'm not much of a knitter, but my WIP shawl right now is being made with ribbon yarn on a triangle loom. i also have an Althea shawl on the hook (crochet)

    I just finished a lace shawl. First one, bound off too tight. I thought I'd try something a little more elementary for the next one. Good thing I have a big family - they get all my good stuff and not so good stuff. They always say they love it!

    I'm working simultaneously on Cherle Oberle's "Wool Peddler's Shawl" from her book "Folk Shawls" and on maylin Tri'coterie's "Wingspan".

    I would also love to make Colour Affection and any of Martina Behm's creations, including her latest, which is called "Sleeves'.

    I've got four shawls in progress -- Omelet by Joyce Fassbender, Beithe by Susanna IC, Now In A Minute by Brenda Dayne, and the current Mystery KAL from Kelbourne Woolens.     I currently have 3 different shawls on my needles. With my size 5 dreamz interchangeable I have Lilien Fee available on ravelry. On a second set of size 5's is the vortex shawl pattern. And last but certainly not least I have the blt (basic little triangle) on my size 7's.

    I'm working on the Fiddleknits Mystery KAL...my 1st real shawl. Never knew I wanted to make one and now it's all I'm looking at on Ravelry (Laurie521). Bought some Knitter's Pride Nova circs...my 1st grown-up circulars! (big box brands will be banished as stitch holders from here on out!) Liz Corke KAL is next
