Is your local yarn shop (LYS) the first place you go to find out about what's new and exciting in the world of yarn? Did you learn to knit or crochet there? Do they host fun events like Knitter's Pride needle tastings and knit nights?
We want to hear about what makes your LYS so special! Tell us about your favorite yarn shop for your chance to win your choice of prizes: a Deluxe Royale Interchangeable set or a Waves Crochet set.
Here's how to enter:
1. Make sure you are a member of the Knitter's Pride Ravelry group!
2. Post a comment in this thread telling us the name of your LYS, where it's located, and what you love about it. Feel free to include photos in your post and earburn the shop if they have a Ravelry account!
3. For a special bonus entry, post a photo of your LYS on social media using #kpLYSlove - and be sure to tag your LYS, too!
We'll randomly select our grand prize winner to announce on Friday, September 15. Good luck!

Not on Ravelry but I shall spread some LYS Love any way. My LYS is "Yarn It All" on Bank Street in North Attleborough, Massachusetts. Great, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people and KP products. Stopped in today for blocking help and was glad to be able to get KP blocking pads and blocking-pin combs.
ReplyDeleteCan I add a photo here? I don't see how. I'll go Tweet some LYS Love with a photo and hashtag.
DeleteMy LYS is Cottage Yarn, Mint Hill NC. I have taken knitting lessons here and so has my daughter. Lyn is always friendly and helpful every time we stop in. A great shop! [CottageYarn]
ReplyDeleteMy LYS is In The Making, Vestavia Hills AL. I love the shop employees who are always ready to tackle an emergency knitting error- friendly, helpful and knowledgeable folks! Beautiful store, wonderful inventory and handy location. So glad they are in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I entered on Ravelry! Fingers crossed, and thanks to my local shop, Lucky Ewe Yarns for being who they are and helping Rwanda women earn a living with yarn. rav:dinasmiles2
ReplyDeleteThe LYS I discovered is Tricolaine, at Repentigny, province of Québec, Canada. In the back of the store they keep some yarn on sale, at much lower prices, so I can try them and discover new needs :) they sell KP products too.
ReplyDeleteMy LYS, Knit This, Purl That (about 25 miles away-nothing closer) is a lovely shop in Pleasanton, CA. They are very helpful and willing to offer any advise.
ReplyDeleteThe closest yarn shop to me is an hour away, called Bella Filati in southern pines, nc. They are super friendly and have a drool worthy collection of yarn.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite LYS is not exactly close to me but it's worth the trip--Park Avenue Yarns in League City TX. I like to knit, crochet and sew and they have goodies for all those crafts! Unfortunately we are all in the middle of Hurrican Harvey floods so they're not open and I couldn't get there if they were! But I'll be back over there soon--lovely store.
ReplyDeleteHi, my favourite LYS is Wool-Thyme located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I can always count on them to help me find what I am looking for. Should they not carry an item they sometimes can order it in. I can spend hours in the store and even my husband will join me. He enjoys all the beautiful coloured yarn and their textures. I was introduced to KP quite a few years ago and have been in love with them ever since. I am looking to expand my collection to crochet hooks and double pointed needles but cannot seem to make up my mind on which ones to get.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite knit store is Knit and Purl in downtown Portland. It is only blocks away so must be careful! They have an open knit night when you just come in and plop down to knit. It is the first time I have lived near actual knitting stores.
ReplyDeleteKnit Wits, Evansville, Indiana. I like the expertise of the sales clerk. They've steered me toward my favorite needles.
ReplyDeleteStix and Stones is the name of my LYS. It is located in downtown North Bay Ontario Canada. It does have a Ravelry Group but I do not know how to earburn it. I love the friendly atmosphere and help I receive when I do go in there. I also love the wide range of yarn they have plus all of the other goodies such as teas. I also love their new online shop. While North Bay isn't a huge city, I do not drive and do not venture too far from my own area of town, this new shop will allow me to continue to support my LYS more often.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite yarn shop is Conversational Threads in Emmaus, PA. This shop is very friendly and welcoming! There is always someone to help find the perfect yarn in the perfect color even if it takes me forever to make a decision! Anyone is welcome to come in and just sit and knit. And if you need something she doesn't have, Cindy will get it for you!
ReplyDeleteI love A Verb for Keeping Warm in Oakland CA because it satisfies so many of my crafting needs. Christine stocks fabrics as well as yarn and is an accomplished natural dyer as well.
ReplyDeleteMy LYS is Northfield Yarn in Northfield, MN. I am in there several times a month. I love the help I get, and know that if I have a question, they have me covered. I bought my Royal needles there... Great store! Great needles! What more can I say!

ReplyDeleteMy LYS Delightful Ewe has made projects I want to make, patterns, all kinds of yarn, buttons, and accessories. The owner, Carla learned my name the first day and has not forgotten it!

ReplyDeleteI like to go to The Craft Company in Cascais. There is a great selection and they are so helpful and nice! They have a lot of things going on, not only related to knitting, and I think this is a must.
ReplyDeleteMy LYS is called Knitting Temptations, and it's located in Dublin, OH. It's right in the middle of the cutest little historical neighborhood, in an adorable old house. This is a large part of it's charm, as inside you'll find bunches of little rooms and nooks here and there filled with all kinds of glorious yarn, needles, patterns, notions, etc. All of the very welcoming gals who work here, instantly become wonderful friends, advisors, and teachers for any number of knit and crochet needs. It's just such a wonderful place to shop, take a class, or just hang out with fellow fiber addicts! It helps that there is a Starbucks just across the parking lot too. I mean you've got yarn, sticks, caffeine, and friends. What more could a girl want?!?!?!? :)
