Tell Us Your Crafting Resolutions!

Dreamz Tunisian Crochet Interchangeable Set
Happy New Year from Knitter's Pride! January is a great time to take stock and set goals, especially when it comes to crafting! Perhaps in 2013, you'd like to learn a new technique such as colorwork, entrelac, or Tunisian crochet; Knitters may decide they'd like to try their hand at crochet and vice versa; or perhaps you've never made yourself a sweater and have decided that this is the year to give it a try!

Whatever your resolution, Knitter's Pride has the tools you need to make it happen. We'd like to help you on your way by offering some great prizes this month on Facebook, Twitter, and Ravelry, as well as on this blog!

Three lucky readers will win one of three great prizes below; to enter, simply leave a comment sharing your crafting resolution for 2013. We'll randomly choose 3 comments (one for each prize) to announce on our next blog post on January 23rd. Be sure to also leave a way for us to contact you if you win such as an email address or Ravelry ID.

Good luck!

  30. My new-year's crafting resolution is to knit or crochet something really BIG - like a sweater, or a beanbag chair. I usually make little, fiddly projects that require a lot of squinting at patterns and detail work, and I want something that I can always pick up and work on. I'm thinking about making an overlay crochet beanbag pouffe for my girls' room, which would also be a new skill for this knitter!

    ReplyDelete
  39. My resolutions are:
    1) organize my room and yarn and equipment (needles and hooks, etc.).
    2) finish UFOs or frog the ones that don't keep my attention by the end of January.
    3) learn how to knit colored patterns and read charts
    4) have no more than 1 of each skill/technique (knitting, knooking, loom knitting, tunisian crochet, double-ended crochet/crochenit or regular crochet) going at a time. (yeah, okay maybe not, lol). Better yet, create a crafting plan, or rule, so that I don't have quite so many projects going at once, i.e. # hours of knitting-knooking-loom knitting- crochet-tunisian-crochenit per day/week/month.
    5) acquire more Cubics tips and/or 47" fixed circulars until have full set.
    6) acquire another Tunisian hook set and connectors to make double-ended hooks for crochenit/double-ended crochet.
    7) acquire interchangeable hooks in sizes not included in set.

  42. My Crafty resolution is to use the patterns I have already collected rather than buying anymore patterns. It's going to be hard as I can't help but snaffle up a bargain but I have so many lovely patterns that I haven't got round to making, it seems a waste not to use them!

A goal that I feel strongly about is writing up and selling some of the patterns that I've made. I don't expect to get rich doing it, but it would be nice to offset the cost of the yarn that I'm totally going to buy anyway.

  138. I knitted and crocheted my way through childhood, my teen years and my early 20s. My aunt and cousin owned a yarn and needlecraft store. And then...I moved away for work...and decades went by...and I had a family...and now that the last chick has flown from the nest, I'm knitting (and crocheting) again. There is an element of muscle memory...but I'm a bit rusty. Nevertheless, I plan to make a sweater this year, come hell or high water.

  140. My resolution is to always shop my stash before purchasing new yarn. And to actually use something I've spun. cabincrafter on Ravelry

  141. My New Years resolution would have to be to not take on more yarn and to use from my stash all the crochet projects I plan for this coming year. I have enough yarn to open a shop up with.

I also plan on doing the 12 shawls of 2013 this year. I completed 13 last year without much effort, so hoping to do the same again this year :)

  148. I would like to finish my WIP'S and knit out of my stash instead of purchasing more yarn. Although, I do believe I will find yarn here and there that is calling me to add them to my stash. My rav I'd is KSPowerKnitter.

  149. I have resolved to knit five projects using stash yarn before I allow myself to purchase new yarn. This has already been tested when I ran out of yarn for a project. I guess there are exceptions to everything!

  153. I would like to finish more UFO's than new projects this year. I really don't like having a lot of UFO's around, especially those older than one year. Thanks for these chances. I'd love to try your needles.
