Make sure that your knitting or crocheting isn't the only thing going on vacation this summer! Whether or not you're planning to travel, there are plenty of great projects to keep your needles and hooks happy during the warmer months ahead.
Shawls are a great project choice; they can be used on cooler summer nights and will also be handy when the temperatures cool down in the fall. Choose lightweight yarns with cooler fibres such as bamboo, cotton or silk for your next project; here are a few popular patterns from Ravelry.com which you might enjoy!
Small projects such as socks, hats and handwear are also great to work on during warmer months - you'll be glad you did when winter's chill arrives! They also are easy to take with you on-the-go, and using circular needles for magic loop means you don't have to worry about losing one of your double-pointed needles while you're out and about! Below are a few popular hat patterns from Ravelry to get you inspired!

Several projects: a sweater that I can do in pieces (not so heavy resting on my lap). Shawls for a Christmas gift and for my sister in law. A knitted critter for my great nephew. I want to try the circulars for one of the lacy projects I have coming up.

Socks with KP circulars are on the schedule for this summer.
ReplyDeleteI will be designing a new top down cardigan. I have three lace shawls in the queue and for myself I will be making a silk tee and one in fingering weight bamboo. I will be busy!
ReplyDeleteKnitting is so much a part of my life, that the concept of not having knitting regardless of where I am would be odd and probably make me cranky :). Love my KP interchangeables for packing on trips. Always have what I need no matter where I buy new yarn.
ReplyDeleteMy summer knitting plans include my first capelet! Also, working on my first pair of Magic Loop Toe-Up socks. I would love the circular needles if I am chosen.

I have a few baby things to make for my best friend who is due in August, but I'm also going to try to tailor a sweater pattern for the first time. I'm a little nervous about it, but it should be a fun challenge! I'd really like to try the Karbonz fixed circulars, maybe they'd give me some confidence. :)

I'm finishing up my first entrelac sweater and continuing with my first knee socks. I've just turned the heel on the second sock, so I've got a couple of months' more stitches to go on these toe-ups.
ReplyDeleteCircular needle if I win, please! Thanks for the giveaway. :)

I do knitting all year round. In summer I get a head start on my gifts for the winter Holidays. Mittens, socks, hats, scarves and shawls are some of the items I take along when travelling. Also, similar items to give away to charity can be knit all year round.
ReplyDeleteLately many of my friends are having babies. Baby clothes are small enough projects to take along in a knitting bag as well.
I have two sets of the Karbonz fixed circular knitting needles. I love them! I'd love to try a set of DPN's for one of my smaller projects.
I knit year round. I knit everyday or I get cranky. This summer I am knitting Christmas gifts - shawls for dear friends , mitts, hats, cowls for my step-sons girl friends, a dress for my 2-year old grand-neice, and slippers for my sister-in-law. In between I design my own pieces (currently an adult vest and cardigan for a toddler). I will be taking my knitting with me to the Eastern Sierra Mountains in June and to Costa Rica in August. I would choose Karbonz fixed circular needles (24 in).

Now that school is over, I've lined my projects up... finishing a modified Dragonfly wings shawl, a couple chemo caps for a friend, a hat for my assistant at work, and a sweater for myself (at some point). So hard to pick which needle. I'm going to go with the double points, since I can use them on the hats. I'm Greygirl on Ravelry.

I never stop knitting no matter what the temperature. i'd love to win the fixed circular Karbonz - that would be perfect for my summer shawl knitting. cjs7905 on ravelry

I also have socks going because they're not only portable, but one always needs socks, right?
